Yogi Bhajan’s series of exercises, so-called Kriyas, and meditations serve a specific purpose, which works on your existence and accompanies you in your processes. A Kriya is a sequence of postures, breathing and sound that form a unity in order to make a certain state possible. When you do a Kundalini Yoga Kriya, the result of its repetition allows you to access to a facet of your consciousness, a particular, predictable and stable state and its mastery. Thus, Kundalini Yoga is much more than a purely physical experience or workout. It influences your existence on a higher level and at the same time supports physical well-being. It promotes blood circulation, strengthens your body as well as your nervous and immune systems and affects your glandular system.
Sequence of a class
A Kundalini Yoga class consists of the following parts:
- Tuning in chanting three times the Adi Mantra “Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo”
- One or more Kriya(s)
- Deep relaxation, as an essential instrument to integrate the energy created by the body through the exercises
- Tuning out with the song “May the long time” and the mantra “Sat Nam”
